In 2001, the inhabitants of the department of Madre de Dios had only two offices, which could carry out financial operations. Today they have 13 offices including a bank, a municipal bank, a rural bank and edpymes. This only confirms the national trend: in the same period, the number of offices of this type has doubled throughout Peru, from 570 to 1072 between 2001 and 2010.
